Hunting Equipment
If checked in separately, each item within the hunting equipment category is considered a piece of baggage that counts towards your checked baggage allowance and is subject to all the rules and restrictions that apply to checked baggage. An excess piece fee will be collected at the airport for each piece that exceeds the free baggage allowance on an Air Canada or Air Canada Jazz flight.
Important note: These following items should be pre-registered at the time of booking. Please be sure to carefully read and respect the following guidelines for packing your hunting equipment before arrival at the airport. When transporting any of these items, it is advised that you arrive an additional 30 minutes before your normally recommended check-in time. If not packaged correctly, Air Canada will only accept these items with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing Air Canada of all liability.
* Latitude and Executive fare customers are entitled to check one of these items (one piece per passenger) at no charge for travel within Canada, and between Canada and the US on a space available basis only.

| Item(s) | Details | Packing guidelines |
| Ammunition | Ammunition is only accepted in checked baggage and must be packaged separately from the firearm. Ammunition allowance is limited to 5 kg (11 LB) per passenger. Only shells or cartridges are acceptable types of ammunition. Gunpowder and gunpowder pellets are strictly prohibited. | Ammunition must be packed securely in a strong container of wood, metal or fiberboard, plainly marked "ammunition," or in the original inner carton. To avoid shock movement, the carton must be placed inside a suitcase and cushioned with clothing. |
| Antlers or Horns | Antlers or horns are accepted as checked baggage only. Weight limit on antlers or horns is 32 kg (70 lb). In addition to any applicable excess baggage fee, a fixed handling charge of $150 CAD plus applicable taxes per item on one-way flights and on each-way travel on round-trip and multi-segment flights operated by Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz applies. Latitude and Executive fare customers are entitled to check their antlers or horns (one piece per passenger) at no charge for travel within Canada and the 50 United States. | The antlers or horns must be clean and well-wrapped in absorbent material with all points covered. The item must be suitably packaged in a rigid and/or hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. Smaller antlers wrapped in a larger set count as an additional item. |
| Bounty | Bounty may be substituted for a free checked baggage allowance piece if it fits within the weight and dimensions of 23kg (50lb) and 160 linear cm (63 in). However, when carried over and above this allowance, additional charges will be levied at the airport. | Meat or game must be transported in a leak-proof container or wrapped in absorbent material and then placed in plastic bags inside waxed cartons. Plastic bags alone are not sufficient for transport. |
| Firearms | Hunting rifles and shotguns are accepted as checked baggage only, and must be unloaded. Before Air Canada accepts the firearm, you must sign a declaration form attesting that the gun is unloaded. In addition to any applicable excess baggage fee, a fixed handling charge of $50 CAD plus applicable taxes per item on one-way flights and on each-way travel on round-trip and multi-segment flights operated by Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz applies.* The Canadian government charges additional fees for bringing firearms into Canada. For more information, please visit the Canada Border Services Agency website. For information about transporting ammunition and firearms, see Dangerous Goods. | The firearm must be inhibited from being fired by using a secure, locking device mechanism or trigger lock on the weapon. The firearm must be packaged and locked in a specially designed, opaque case that cannot be easily broken into during transport. |
