Check In/Boarding/Minimum Connection Times
Check-in Times
Air Canada recommends allowing plenty of time for check-in, especially when checking baggage and for the security check.
Effective June 1, 2006 customers traveling on two separate tickets, connecting from Air Canada to another airline will only be checked in as far as the destination on their Air Canada ticket, with the same rule applying to their baggage.
Here are the recommended check-in times for flights departing from Beijing (Beijing Capital) and Shanghai (Pu Dong) to Canada.
Beijing Capital Airport check-in (at Terminal 2, Island E) open 3 hours. Starting March 26, 2008, Air Canada Beijing Airport check-in counters will move to Terminal 3 ( E17-25 ) for operation.
Pu Dong Airport check-in (at Island K) open 2 hours and 30 minutes before departure. From April 29, 2008, Air Canada Pu Dong Airport check-in counters will move to Terminal 2 (at Island E) for operation.

Passengers connecting to Air Canada flights in China, please check with the airline you are transferring from at Beijing and Shanghai for check-in times at your originating airport.

ALL passengers (no exceptions) must be available at the gate for boarding:
Failure to meet these deadlines may result in the reassignment of any pre-reserved seats, cancellation of your reservations and ineligibility for denied boardings.
Minimum Connection Times
When customers are transferring between flights a minimum amount of time is required for Air Canada to guarantee a smooth connection and delivery of any baggage. Minimum Connection Times (MCT) vary by airport, type of connection, and between airlines.

Air Canada's computer systems automatically ensure that all connecting flights offered to customers meet MCT requirements. Customers are advised that for bookings, which do not meet the specified MCT?s, Air Canada cannot guarantee or be liable for a missed connection disruption to travel plans, and / or additional costs incurred.
